Loop Guy

Project at Malmö University

Team of 4

9 weeks half-time
(180 hours)

MonoGame/C#

Loop Guy was my first somewhat significant game project as an aspiring developer and it’s where I picked up a lot of the basics around planning and finishing a software development project. The game was developed in C# and MonoGame, a relatively simple C# game development framework in a team of 4 people over 9 weeks half-time.

As we were a small team spread out on our first “big” game project, our responsibilities became highly varied. I worked on many things, but the highlights would be rendering optimizations, the UI, the level editor, saving progress and settings and the enemy AI framework.

At the end of the course and the project, an expo was held where all the 100+ students who took part could present their projects. Loop Guy was voted best game by those attending.

In this project, I learned the value of being a generalist developer in a small project such as this. Communication was also vital in order to make sure work was carried out as efficiently as possible in our small team.
